I did not have a traditional route to teaching, but I made it none the less!!  I used my Social Work degree after graduation to counsel at risk youth at Youth and Family Services of Canadian County.  I loved this job!!  I loved working with kids, and more importantly, the more challenging kids.  I led group counseling at several different elementary and middle schools in Candian County, and did indivudal and family counseling at my office there.  When I had my first son, my husband and I were blessed enough that I could stay home and raise our babies.  I was a stay at home mom for 13 years.  

When it was time for me to re-enter the workforce, I wanted to work in a local school so that I could still be close and available for my family.  I was lucky enough to get a job as a teachers aide here at West Elementary in Special Education.  I fell in love with working here!!  I obtained my alternative teaching certification not knowing what the future held, but trusting that I would stay at West.  This is my second year to teach Special Ed at West.  I learn something new everyday, about myself, my students, and teaching.  It is where my heart is, even though I didn’t know it til later in life.  

I have been married to BJ, the hardest working guy I know, since 2001.  We have three awesome kids that attend WPS.  Cole is 15 and in the 9^th grade, Emma is 13 and in the 8^th grade, and Trent is 11 and in the 5^th grade.
